The handheld equipment becomes popular in the field of communication, instruments and consumer products. This paper introduces how to design, to develop and to implement a handheld equipment's software system based on uClinux and HHDREZ328 platform.First, the paper introduces the research background and the establishment of the development platform. Subsequently it introduces use C language to develop the driver of LCD, keyboard and SRAM, the function libraries of graphics display, keyboard input and database management. It is too difficult to develop application by function libraries. So the paper puts forward how to transcend the traditional development method, following the VB6 Form document structure, to develop application by script. Then it expounds how to follow the VB6 Run Time DLL, to design a Script Executing Engine to interpret and execute the script. The script will be compiled into a binary file which composed of pseudo assemble instructions at the desktop, then it will be upload into the embedded system. As he binary file is platform independent, the script program can still use in the new product without any modification when we release a new product, thus it protects the customer's original investment. This is a new trial in embedded application development, providing the theories and method for embedded system design and development.
