SIP Protocol And Its Application Research And Implementation In IP Conference

At present, as the rapid development of IP network, the IP based conference system is more and more popular. Although this, the traditional conference system which is based on circuit switch technology (H.320 system) is still the leading type of conference system. This type of conference system is depend on specific hardware boards, so appears not adaptive and scalable, which also has high cost value.Session Initial Protocol, which is SIP for short, is multimedia communication protocol defined by IETF. It becomes one of the most popular multimedia communication protocols together with H.323 defined by ITU-T, and due to its extensive advantages make it to going to take the place of H.323.As an alternative, SIP based conference system appears simple and adaptive, which is easy to implement a software IP conference system. On the other side, SIP is a relatively new protocol used to manage and control multimedia sessions, which is regardless of the session type. SIP is widely used in NGN and 3G IMS system, so it's very promising protocol. On this point of view, it's valuable to research SIP based conference system.This paper does some research on key technologies, architecture designs and implementations of building an IP Conference. This architecture is central controlled conference system based on function platform, according with hierarchical networking, thus presenting flexibility and extensibility of software IP Conference.
