The embedded vehicle monitoring system terminal developed in this page is that, according to the requirement of Chang Jiang Riverway Department of manage, equipping law-vehicle with the terminal of monitor, which is regard as the effective complementary tool to the whole visual monitor system, command the law-vehicle go to the nearest scene, to improve the efficiency of executing the law.The vehicle monitoring system developed in this paper is the field of intelligent transportation systems. The intelligent transportation is a new kind of informationalized, intellectualized, and socialized modem traffic system, and is rapidly developed by using advanced technology such as electronic, information, communication technology, etc. The main function of the vehicle navigation and monitoring system is to plan the best route and supply the drivers with their position, velocity, moving direction and the surrounding geographic circumstance information for their fast, safe and accurate arrival during the course of running by the aid of electronic map.This paper recommends background and significance of the vehicle navigation and monitoring system and development tendency of the intelligent traffic system. It recommends detailedly the related technology of the vehicle navigation system, which include embedded system technology, GPS technology, GIS technology, GPRS technology, etc. It introduced the whole design project of the system, including design of the hardware platfonn, transplant and custom of the operation system, selecting the platform for software and paying attention to some problems in developing software.The basic functions have been realized in this paper, such as zooming out/in and moving of navigation map and layer operation by the embedded GIS platform—eHotGIS, classifying query and localization target, showing the real-time location of vehicle in navigation map by GPS information and Map Matching base on projection, analyzing of the shortest routes from the beginning to the destination by Dijkstra algorithm, realizing the wireless correspondence by GPRS technology and Socket programming. The advantages of the system include compact structure, reliability of function and easy expansibility. And realization of the system provides a reliable protection for the whole systems.
