The Research, Design And Implementation Of The Ship Navigation & Monitoring System Based On AIS

Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is a kind of application system based on Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC), the main function of this system is promotes the navigation security. It not only displays the electronic nautical chart on the computer, more over also is real-time navigation monitoring and the display system integrated each kind of correlated navigation information for the officers, it will to enhance the technology of navigation to a brand-new altitude. Automatic Identification System (AIS) is a new kind of electronic equipment for sailing, the main application field of it is the vessel collision and vessel traffic service. AIS has provided the unprecedented vessels tag information and high real time and accurate parameter of ships navigating. It can provide more information, better real time and stronger anit-jamming than radar, also it has other virtues such as transmitting over obstacles. In a word, AIS can bring the revolutionary progress to the supervision of the vessels navigating in the sea.Aimed at the current development of ship navigation systems and the technique characteristic of AIS, this dissertation aims to complete a ship navigation system based on distributed database. It chooses the S-57 data as the sea chart input, then displays the ship's data which from AIS. The system consists of AIS receiving devices, navigation computers, watching computers and wireless communication network; uses high performance 32-bits processor, uses Windows XP as operating system. With AIS receiver and electronic chart, the system affords many functions such as displaying charts, helping with charts business and monitoring ships, track designing, charts are merged with no slots, several sites watching one moving ship, warning report automatically, and so on. Compared with other systems, it is compact, powerful, convenient, low-cost and high-reliable. Experiments show that the system could satisfy the needs of ship navigations, and using this system could improve the safety of ship navigations. This system strengthen the function of Electronic Navigation Chart System (ENCS), accelerates the development of ENCS. Also brings great advantage in field of navigation.
