Text Input Technology Research For Mobile Phone

Along with mobile phones having been used widely,there has been a substantial growth in interest in mobile text entry over recent years, among both researchers and users.They demand for a more efficient and easier text entry method to use.Because of the diversity of mobile phones,there have not a single, standard mobile text entry method emerged. Thus, mobile text entry remains a very open and potential area of research.Although there are many new text input techniques having been come forth,for example,many modules of voice,writing,touching have been emerged on slap-up intelligent phone or PDA,it still needs a long time to reach a very high speed and accuracy.So,the keyboard with key-press will be the main input device for ages. As the bulk of mobile phone becomes more and more smaller,the physical size of keyboard begins to be restricted.Because of the mobile phone's specific using conditions, which made it unlike for the desktop keyboard,and needing high speed and accuracy,small bulk,high acclimatization and so on.In fact, our input devices have a huge difference between expectation and practice.Aimming at the inconsistency between physical size of keyboard and amount of key-press,and the feebleness acclimatization, given a detailed introduction about the actuality of mobile phone's development in this paper.At the same time,the author makes use of the antetype of 3×4 keyboard which applying to the mobile phone. A necessary part of the development of a new mobile text entry method is a comparison of its performance with existing methods, Despite being complex and time consuming.In this paper,the author uses experimentation to quantificationally analyse the Chord and the three main input methods on mobile phone which are Multi-tap,T-9,mini-werty.At the same time,using the KSPC and fitt's law to give them a qualitative analysis,and bring forward ideas of new betterment.In this paper,the author bases on system design, experiment and qualitative analysis,using the method of combining theory and experiment, found a new reference for mobile phone text input technique research.
