Future Development Of Digital Libraries Under The Situation Of Ubiquitous Knowledge Environment

The research and construction of digital libraries, which have experienced for over 10 years, have greatly promoted the development of library community and modernization of information services. However, the emergence and development of Ambient Intelligence bringing great changes into society , brings both opportunities and challenges into digital libraries and accelerates them aiming at ubiquitous knowledge environment. The aims of this thesis are to analyze and identify the environment opportunities and challenges, and redefine the future trends of digital libraries based on literature search, document metrics, compare analysis and scene construction. The major research work and contributions of this thesis are as follows:The first part narrates the development of the meaning of digital libraries and analyzes the recent status of digital library research by adopting document metrics methodology and using ISI Web of Science. Then, this part clarifies the research purposes ,methodologies and primary contents of this thesis.The second part analyzes and identifies the environment opportunities and challenges. The emergence and development of ambient intelligence, has been transforming information modes, information distribution channels and information using mechanisms. It not only brings unique opportunities into the future of digital libraries, but also brings austere challenges into the future of digital libraries. As a result, digital libraries will have to contribute to the construction of ubiquitous knowledge environment.The third part compares and analyzes the recent digital library programs in primary countries, and explores and tracks their new trends, which are used for reference.The last part envisions the characteristics, infrastructure and functions of the digital libraries in the ubiquitous knowledge environment, and constructs the scene.
