Network manage system is the important part of the router. It takes charge of operation, administration and maintenance of the network device. Supported by "Research on Systerm Performance and Key Techniques of Large-scale Access Convergence Router (ACR)" which is the important part of National 863 Program, this dissertation designs and implements function-extended network management system of ACR based on AgentX. Test results indicate that the system operates smoothly in the ACR and satisfy the performance requirements.The main work this dissertation does is as follows:Research on the background of the network management and the protocol: firstly, the development situation of the network management technology both at home and abroad is studied, and so are the characteristics and the requirements of the network management system of ACR. Based on the analysis of the framework and the working mode of AgentX, this dissertation compares it to the SMUX protocol which was ever applied as the protocol to extend agent in the network management system in our router, and points out that it is good for the network management system of ACR to utilize the AgentX protocol to extend agent.The researches and designs of the key technologies when implementation. (1) The improvement of the operation "GetBulk" is brought forward and implemented. Test results indicate that it increases the quantity of effective transmission, and improves the efficiency of data collecting. (2) The improvement of MIB registrations: Synchronization mechanism is brought in, which makes the registrations tables and the index tables consistent and reduces the conflicts of MIB registrations; Multi-area MIB registrations is presented, which improved the efficiency of MIB registrations. (3) Strategy-based data grouping collecting algorithm is brought forward and implemented. Test results that it not only can collect data according to the requirement of the users, but also improves the efficiency of data collecting and reduces the network traffic. (4) It presents the design of Remote Management of AgentX, and provides the solution of the management of the RM.The implementation and the test of the system: the software development package "NET-SNMP" is applied for the implementation of AgentX-based extensible network management mechanism of ACR. The development process of AgentX subagent of private MIB is analyzed, and the problem of the dynamic load and unload of MIB is resolved. At last, it designs the testing program and then tests the system. Test results indicate that the network management system meets the requirements of the protocols, and performs the function of the network management effectively.
