The inflation of network scale and the deepening development of network applications bring along the research of network management technology. Network management module is an important component of the large-scale network devices software system, whose core is an agent which supports SNMP protocol. Through it network administrator can monitor the operation status of router and make corresponding adjustment, ensure the normal operation of the whole network system. Aim at the demand of the Multi-Transaction Control System, this thesis studies the realization of network management module, especially its support to MIB modules. Because the Multi-Transaction Control System need control the function of many kinds of protocol, the network management module need to offer dynamic support to various kinds of protocol MIB. Traditional SNMP agent which adopts monolithic structure can't meet this demand. Considering the request of modularization in router software design, on the basis of comparing and analyzing various agent extending schemes, this thesis proposes the scheme that use the Master agent/Subagent structure of AgentX framework to extend network management module for MIB support. Our research and practice give out following conclusions. The extended agent based on AgentX framework will not increase the extra burden to the network administrator because of its transparent structure. Its support to dynamic-extend, high performance of transmission and low expenses of realization satisfy the request of router design. And the robust and security character it possesses will not exert any negative influence on the system's function. Furthermore, following the request of software engineering, in studying an AgentX-based extensible network management model for master agent and subagent, this thesis describes detailedly the procedures of embedding AgentX subagent and MIB in protocol modules. It offers a standardized solution for the network management module to extend its support to new protocol MIB.
