Technology of Virtual Random Walk in building environment is one of the important contents of Virtual Reality Technology, which has a broad prospect for application in the fields of architecture, tourism, military and computer game design. The purpose of this paper is to give the research on the key techniques involved in the real-time random walk in order to improve 3D sense of space, immerse feeling, interactive and conception of Virtual Random Walk.This paper makes the research on the mold setting technique, 3D field drawing and environment management technique, path optimization technique and collision examining technique involved in Real-time Random Walk based on polygon Virtual Building Environment.On the basis of mold setting and optimization technique, this paper analyzes the characteristics of polygon Virtual Building Environment to realize the fast mold setting and optimization. For the environment management technique, this paper makes the research on the different environment management methods and manages the environment effectively to adopt the BSP tree algorithm.Based on the environment database established, the author researches how to optimize the path and detect the collision and designs the fast path search and collision detection methods based on the BSP tree, which can improve the calculate efficiency of real-time random walk.Besides, a prototypical system of building environment based on key technology is implemented and several typical algorithms examples are given as well. The results of these examples indicate the correctness and credibility of the algorithms above.
