As the combined application of traditional video technique and modern communication technique , video monitoring has drawn more and more attention. At the aspect of network communication , the advantage of SIP protocol makes it the standard of the integrated communication for next generation network.. But most video monitoring systems adopt private communication protocol , it's unfit for the expansion of system and intercommunication among different systems. Lots of unicast will lead to overload of network. With the development of video monitoring system , those problems will be solved.To the above mentioned problem , this thesis proposed a SIP monitoring server system supporting multicast. First, this paper stated the architecture of video monitoring server system after introducing SIP, and introduced three main functional entities of monitoring system: monitor server based on SIP, SIP server and client; Then, it discussed the necessary protocol and key technique needed in building monitoring system. It mainly solved intercommunication problems between monitoring system and other systems(or devices)by using SIP protocol, and solved network overloading through realizing multicast by using IGMP protocol ;It emphasized on the design and realization of SIP monitoring server, which is divided into eight modules to be realized respectively based on the working principle and basic function, then detailedly described the implementation of SIP user agent, mirror-cloud control mechanism, user rights management , media processing and network transmission modules; At last, this thesis discussed and described the multicast design and implementation based on the SAP, SIP and SDP protocol.Appling Linux OS as the platform and C language as the developing language, adopting modularization and multithread technique, The aim system of the project realized a prototype system of SIP monitoring server supporting video multicast in the local subnet supporting SIP.
