| With the development of IP technologies, traditional PSTN communication network also evolves into IP networks gradually. NGN, a type of IP network, which merge voice, data and video services, will be the development direction of communication network in the future. As an important soft-switch equipment, Relay gateway realizes the smooth transition from the circuit-switch to the soft-switch. However, for various reasons, the business applications of mature soft-switch network have not yet widespread. It is necessary to explore how to smooth the transition to the soft-switched networks bashed on the existing telecommunications network platform.In this paper, a solution, which transit to the next generation network through making the transformation to the present application's equipment, has been proposed. The use of TMG, which solute the transition from the PSTN to NGN through low-cost, has protected the current investment greatly. Based on the current realities of the communications network, reference and research to the relevant literature, through the analysis of the current status of research and development of TG, a type of TG is designed based on the network processor-Intel IXP425.The relay gateway designed in this paper realize the connection between the Guangha Communication's soft-switch systems and H2020.Through on-site testing, the TG reach the desired results. It realize the function of the TG, meanwhile, it ensure the stability, reliability and scalability of the hardware.This article discuss the design of TG based on the Network Processor IXP425 in detail, and be hoped to provide a reference to people who engage in this study. |
