Research On And Implementation Of IAL Input Engine And SNMP Agent For IP Network Tester

In recent years, with the expanding of IP networks size and the growing of customers, the requirement on the quality of service, operation and administration of IP network has been becoming more and more rigorous. Network measurement and management tools are the important means to guarantee high performance and high reliability of the networks. The paper mainly focuses on two key technologies about software implementation of embedded IP network tester: optimization of the Graphical User Interface and the realization of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) network management function.Based on the characteristics of human-computer interaction and the software features of MiniGUI graphical user interface, the paper proposed and implemented a cost-effective GUI scenario. We optimized the design of the IAL(Input Abstract Layer) input engine in view of the demand of the customers for its testing features and portable capability. According to the Distributed layout requirements of the remote tester, a specific MIB(Management Information Base) database is appended. Besides, we realized the network management function based on SNMP, it will insure effective monitor and management of the remote tester, so that the local monitoring instruments gain access to the data of remote testers, such as the results of analysis and measurement, the testing data and the property of other testers, without interfering its efficiency.Finally, we meet the demand by practical trial, moreover, it helps to master the behavior of IP networks and study the network protocols and control theory.
