Recently, with the fast development of computer technology, especially the maturity of programmable logic device technology such as FPGA, FPGA technology has become one of the most popular techniques in electrocircuit designing field. It has already been broadly applied in communications, data processing, network, instruments, industry control, military, aeronautics and astronautics etc. This set of image acquisition card system is designed for the impurity elimination system of tobacco. It can acquire the tobacco leaf image data produced by the CCD camera on the pipeline in real-time, thereafter pass the data into the host computer after a series of processing.This image acquisition card system uses LFXP6, which is based on FPGA, for its core Processing. The high performance of FPGA is fully taken advantage of in this system, to realize the logic control. The system captures the image data produced by the CCD camera through a special camera link interface chip. It communicates with PCI local bus through CH365. It stores the image data in its image frame buffer based on high speed CMOS static RAM in the study phase. Thus it resolves the rate problem between the FPGA chip and PCI local bus. While during the sorting phase, it compresses the image data via the color table on the card, to make the data transmission efficient and rapid.In this dissertation, hardware and software are discussed in detail respectively. The hardware collects the image data and preprocesses it, then transfers the compressed data into the host computer through PCI local bus. The main function of the software is to make it possible to collect image and transmit data.
