With the rapid development of computer and network technology, computer supported cooperative work(CSCW) has been widely applied. Complex machinery because of its small volume, variety and so many features, the designer's work is far greater than ordinary mechanical design. In the modern competitive market, the problem of maintaining competitive advantage and keeping the market becomes the focus of manufacturing enterprises. As a key technology of new product development, concurrent engineering (CE) has been applied in many manufacturing enterprises at home and abroad. Product Data Management (PDM) provides product lifecycle information management capabilities, supports platform for CE. As a concrete realization of co-design ,workflow management technology is one of the means that grows fastest in the recent years in the computer industry., Using workflow management technology and product data management technology together will achieve synergy and timely data sharing, standardize the development process, and greatly improve the efficiency of collaborative design work in complex machinery collaborative design. The main content of this thesis is as follows: Propose the process management module objectives through the analysis of design process of precision machinery products; Establish a role-based collaborative design process model; Analyze the key data management technology in the design process and solve some key problems. Finally set up a net conferencing collaboration model and achieve net conferencing features using multicast technology, p2p technology and so on.Taking full account of system flexibility and scalability, the collaborative design system can be widely used in complex machinery designing area, and will significantly improve the efficiency of collaborative design.
