The emergence of RSS technology and the rapid development of the way people access to information and information dissemination channels have undergone great changes. RSS technology as a key Web 2.0 technology, with its simple, efficient, real-time, direct, open and low-cost and other salient features, is an outstanding representative of Internet technology. The powerful push and aggregate function of RSS is identified as one of the important library applications. RSS technology is a description and content of the XML format for synchronization. The technology itself is not complicated, but how to powerfully and effectively integrate it into library services? How to develop RSS technology for the user? How many application forms in RSS technology? How to appraisal RSS technology for the user? These issues are the focus of library professionals. This article aims to address these questions and at the same time studies Southwest University Library New Book Notification Service in depth.From the theoretical and practical perspective, the application of RSS technology in New Books Notification Service is analyzed. Literature is reviewed to understand the basic concepts of RSS technology and its theoretical basis. And the application of RSS technology in domestic and foreign university library is studied in order to summarize a general mode of RSS technology application in university Library. By means of field survey and questionnaire methods, the author collects first-hand information of Southwest University Library's Information Service. And in order to solve our school library's problems and obstacles, RSS technology is used to design a New Book Notification System.
