In recent years,the microstrip antenna is widely been focused for its small-size, low-profile, easily intergration with Large-Scale Intergration circuit and other good characteristics.With the rapid progress of wireless telecommunnication systems,the research on the miniaturization of communication device is also been widely studied.The microstrip antenna with small size,highly intergration and wide frequency bandwidth is eagerly needed in the wireless communnication system, RFID, mobile telecommunication and even the medical treatment fields.This paper has an overview on the history of the development of antenna and the analytical methods of microstrip antenna.In this paper,several methods for the miniaturization technology of microstrip antenna have been discussed.Meanwhile,two novel ultra-compact microtrip antenna have been proposed.This dissertation has completed the following aspects of work:First of all,the radiation princple of the microstrip antenna has been discussed in this paper.Besides,several commonly used methods for antenna miniaturization techniques have been discussed;Secondly, a novel W pattern ultra-compact microtrip antenna has been proposed. The radiation patch of the antenna rounds the ground plane for two circles,so the antenna appears to be like W-pattern from upside.The microstrip line is used for feeding the electricity.By using High-frequency electromagnetic simulation software, the position of the feed line at which the performance of the antenna is the best is derived.Besides,By inserting the short-pin in the proper place,the VSWR(Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) of the antenna reduced significantly while the size of the antenna keeps miniaturization.The bandwidth of the antenna is from 1.212GHz to 1.221 GHz,that is 9.02MHz in all.Besides,through making a L-pattern slot at the groud plane so that the gain of the antenna increased while at the same time,the size of the antenna keeps unchanged.Therefore,through making a slot at the ground plane, the problem of gain loss caused by the miniaturization of the antenna can be solved. The gain of the antenna is 1.9192dB at 1217MHz.Thirdly,according to the introduction of the materials concerned,a novel double C-Arm microstrip antenna is proposed. The technique of using the special pattern radiation patch,using dielectric with high permittivity,loading the short-pin,loading the short-plane and adding impedance regulator plane are used to achieve the miniaturization of the antenna.The bandwidth of the antenna are from 1.572GHz to 2.697GHz and from 4.835GHz to 4.975GHz respectively,that are 125MHz and 140MHz seperately.Besides,making a H-pattern slot at the groud plane is used in the design of the antenna in order to overcome the defect of gain loss caused by the miniaturization of the antenna.The gain of the antenna is-4.1dB at 2.65GHz and 2.13dB at 4.9GHz respectively.
