The occurrence of accidents in mine production has been increased year by year, which was induced by the increasing mining of coal resources, the safety of mining work has been placed to a high level.To reduce mine accidents, in addition to strengthening the management of coal production and training of safety technical,real-time monitoring the mine environment is much more important.The purpose of this paper is to study and design a new monitoring system which can monitor real-timely the underground gas concentration.It is the practical significance to ensure the safety of the miners and the mine production.SOPC (system-on-programmable-chip) proposed by Altera company is a flexiable and efficient system-on-chip solution. Including the soft-core processor,memory and I/O port,all these funciton modules that sytem design required are integrated into a FPGA device which constitute a programmable system on a chip.Based on its programmable flexibility and reusability of IP functional blocks, the countrol part of the downhole monitoring sytem is realized in a FPGA.In combination with the short-distance-wireless-communication techology, the real-time wireless transmission for the underground gas,oxgen and temperature signals is realized.The overal design of the sytem is determined by the system design tasks and the monitoring system requirements, CycloneⅡseries EP2C35 device produced by Altera corporation is selected, using the QuartusⅡ6.0 software to finish the development and designing of the system on chip. The NiosⅡIDE software is used to achieve the programming and debugging based on C language. Based on the contents of the above, the hardware design and software design process such as the data collection, wireless data transmission, serial communication and LCD display modules are described in this paper.At the same time, the self-defining CAN IP core is designed using VHDL(Very high speed integrated Hardware Description Language) and the simulation result has been given in the paper. The whole system uses advanced design conception of hierarchical, takes full advantage of the resources of the FPGA chip and introduces the NiosⅡIP core technology. Finally, the on-chip control system is realized with Avalon bus architecture. The hardware test shows that the control system meets the requirement of coal mine monitoring system.Finally, according to the actual research and design of this system, the characteristics of the system are analyzed and summarized and then present the suggestion and expection of the further study.
