A mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) is a set of wireless mobile nodes which can communicate with each other and be completely self-organizing and self-configuring. MANET routing protocols are used to discover and maintain the route between the nodes.Internet connectivity is usually needed for MANET nodes desiring to access to the Internet through gateway nodes. However, almost all of the Ad hoc network routing protocols don't clearly define how to find a gateway and access to the Internet over mobile gateway. Ad hoc can access to the Internet by expanding Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR). Mobile IP technology(MIP) allows mobile nodes roaming between different networks, while maintaining uninterrupted communications. So MIP can realize the connectivity of MANET and Internet. This paper aims at realizing Internet access for MANET nodes over mobile gateways based on MIP and DSR.This implementation can be used to complete dynamic Internet access and deal with routes handover when one of mobile gateways is unavailable. This paper mainly analyzes the design and implementation of gateway table, gateway discovery, gateway selection, MN registers with FA, gateway handover, gateway unavailable, MANET nodes communicate with the Internet. And the design and implementation can be achieved through test and network simulation. This paper is organized as below:The first chapter describes the research background and Ad hoc network. The second chapter discusses Ad hoc,DSR,MIP protocols. The third and the fourth chapters give the design and implementation of the DSR dynamic gateway system. The fifth chapter proves the feasibility and effectiveness of the design by test and network simulation. The sixth chapter draws conclusions and proposes future work.
