Study On The Cost Management Of Construction Projects

With the purpose of improving the cost management of the construction corporations and enhancing the economic profit of the construction project, this dissertation makes a deep research on the cost management in construction projects, applies the proper methods to every phase in the cost management and develops the cost management system on the basis of B/S mode as well. Following are the main contents and some progress in this dissertation.(1) The process of establishing the cost plan of the construction project is studied,including the contents and narration of the plan. First, the breakdown of the project into independent units according to WBS method is put forward. Then, based on it the method for the cost plan of the construction project is established and the method is applied in the carrying-out of the railway construction project cost plan establishment.(2) The traditional cost control methods in construction as well as their defects are also studied. Special attention is put on the application of Earned-Value method in the cost control phase, and an example is given to illuminate how the deficiency of the traditional cost control methods is remedied by Earned-Value method.(3) The feasibility of Activity-Based Costing in cost calculation of construction is researched and an exact example of railway construction project using the Activity-Based Costing is employed to evaluate its validity.The cost information distortion problem, which is aroused by continuing using the traditional cost calculation method while the construction project cost structure is already altered, could be solved to some extent, by applying the cost calculation method of Activity-Based Costing brought forward in this dissertation, and the veracity of cost information is improved as well.(4) The exploitation process of B/S-mode-based cost management system, which is employed in building railway construction is introduced. The system is convenient, simple, interchangeable and expansible and it can help the managers of the construction to carry out the work scientifically and reasonably, resulting in the improvement of work efficiency.This dissertation will be of some help to find an effective cost management method for building construction and by the application of it in the construction to enhance the economic profit of the corporation and improve the development of it.
