Study On The Early Urbanization And City Administration Of Beibei

With the development of the times, cities have got a rapid progress on both quantities and scales as a carrier of human beings' living substance and space. They are replacing country to become the principal subject of residence.As a developing country, China is in a crucial transformation stage in that the development trace and degree of its cities differ from that of developed countries. Also with a vast territory and a long history, therefore, China's urbanization has many unique features. This paper focuses on the practices of Beibei(writer's hometown)'s urbanization in the first thirty years. Based on the existing studies, experiences and lessons of Beibei's early urbanization are generalized, analyzed and summed up for the purpose of offer some instructive suggestions on China's current urbanization.First, some domestic and overseas representative theories and studies of urbanization are recited and put forward and problems of domestic urbanization are elaborated to prove the study values of this paper.Second, start from the practices of Beibei's urbanization and urban governance, as well as the relative facts, main achievements achieved in Beibei's urbanization are enumerated in time order. Proper comments and explanations are also made in this part to emphasize how Beibei became a typical experimental field from a rural and poor country in such a short time.Third, the huge challenges of Chinese current urbanization are analyzed. In this part, the special situations of China and are illustrated to explain the problems that China's urbanization is confronted with in order to emphasize the importance and neccessity of studying Beibei's early urbanization and urban goverance experiences.Last, the successful and failure experiences of Beibei's early urbanization and urban governance are generalized respectively by comparing with the Nantong city of Jiangsu province to get a conclusion that China's current urbanization must regard to the science and go with the advances.Generally, from the historical visual angle, this paper has studied Beibei's early urbanization. It attaches importance on how to choose the proper way of development inChina's small and medium sized cities. As a typical model, which lies in the west of China, Beibei is an epitome of China's west cities' urbanization. Also its successes and failures can be referred by China's other small and medium sized cities now.
