3C refers to a sector to which computer industry, communications industry as well consumers electronics industry all belong. This sector features high-tech and knowledge nature, i.e. most of its products and services contain more of technology and knowledge than metal and materials. It is this characteristic that decides the "L" shape of cost curve for the sector, and thus forces the 3C multinationals to expand to every corner of the world market as soon as their new products, processes and services are launched. As such, the Chinese 3C corporations had since 1990' to go international against the background of market penetration by 3C multinationals. But what has been their performance of international operations? Why they seldom expose such data? These are surely questions always arosing interest as well as doubts. Since the Chinese firms are planning to go international on much larger scale, a study of such performance & its causation is either needed or feasible, the author make it a object of research.However the author doesn't think the present criteria for business performance assessment applicable to China case, and suggests the UNCTAD internationalization Index be used to assess performance of 3C corporations of China.The author analyzes the whole process of host country selection, entry strategy and indigenous operation of Huawei, Lenovo and TCL, the three typical 3C corporations in international operations, and find out that Huawei best inintemalization, with TCL second and Lenova lagging behind.The author analyzes the causes for this ranking, and find out that difference in market pressure serves as outside cause while global perspectives as inside cause, which is more important. Thus the author suggests that leaders of Chinese corporations have to prepare themselves for such vigorous competition in international markets as geographical, technological, strategic as well as innovative.
