A Comparative Study On The Urban Competitiveness Of Xi'an

In the era of globalization and information, owners of all kinds of resources, who flow for their own good, evaluate the competitiveness of cities in term of flow. Therefore, enhancing the competitiveness to obtain as much space as possible, cultivating as many resources as possible, and keeping the high-quality taxpayers have become a concern for the municipal governments of China.By drawing on the experience from the study of China and other countries on urban competitiveness and taking that of Xi'an as the main thread, the paper firstly gives the definition, connotation and characteristics of urban competitiveness, which provides a theoretical basis for the diagnosis research. Then, by employing the qualitative and quantitative analysis method, the paper establishes the target system relevant to urban competitiveness. In addition, the paper evaluates the urban competition performances and potencies of Xi'an, thereby proposing the basis countermeasures of though in promoting the urban competitiveness of Xi'an.The paper includes the following five parts: first part, the theoretical basis of the study on urban competitiveness. It mainly defines the competitiveness and analyzes the theory of the study on urban competitiveness of China and foreign countries; second part, the measurement and evaluation method constructed on the urban competitiveness of Xi'an; third part, the urban competition performances evaluated on the urban competitiveness of Xi'an; fourth part, SWOT analysis on promoting the urban competitiveness of Xi'an; fifth part, the countermeasure study on promoting the urban competitiveness of Xi'an. It proposes the strategic ways and countermeasures of promoting that of Xi'an.In writing the paper, I focus on the theme of urban competitiveness, tries to have an overall and objective understanding of the urban competitiveness of Xi'an, and hope it can be a reference for the government to make development plans.
