With the rapid development of the network and information technology,the ship enterprises has gradually set up their own information network. SMMIS is an important part of the shipping enterprise vessel manangement.It takes charge of the job of the main producing equipment's management in the enterprise.including organizing, coordinating,pre-warning,directing and checking etc.With the implement of the ISO9000 standards and ISM(International ship safe Management) and the perfection of the relative law (regulation) of Classification Society in our country ,SMMIS gradually forms the management mode in which the CWBT and PMS (Plan Maintenance System) is the centural part. These all provide new requirements the Ship Machinery Management Information System'work.To establish SMMIS is the only way to improve the efficiency of ship machinery management's work.Taking the ship enterprise in China for example, firstly,this paper introduces the development status of the SMMIS both in our country and abroad;secondly,this paper introduces the development process of the SMMIS which is based on Browser/Server mode;then,it introduces the basic concepts and design methods of the SMMIS,and especially analyse the relative concept of the software plat-form and the advanced technology,such as ASP.NET technology,database technology,network programme etc,and makes discussion on the maintenance decision problem in the SMMIS;lastly,this paper takes study on the ship spare part management'decisions analysis.By doing this research,SMMIS is established basing on B/S mode,and is put into practice in ship machinery management in the enterprise.The results show that the SMMIS meets the requirement of each main job in ship machinery management, and raise the management level and efficiency of SMMIS. The decision method in this research makes the maintance and ship spare part management to be more scientific,and it also has its great significance in making sure of the equipment reliability and cutting off the cost.
