As the competition of banking is becoming more and more intense, the studying of the efficiency problems as well as its influencing factors of the Chinese commercial banks has become the focus of attention again. The paper uses the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach to measure the technology efficiency , pure technology efficiency and scale efficiency of 14 commercial banks in China from 1999 to 2004,and then it conduct regression analysis on efficiency influencing factors. The result shows that the average technology efficiency of four state-owned commercial banks is lower than that of ten shareholding commercial banks, which is because the scale efficiency of state-owned commercial banks is relatively low;Adequacy ratio of capital, return on asset, non-performing ratio of asset and the structure of property rights are the determinants of commercial banks' efficiency in china.
