Study On The Competency Model Of Project Manager

This paper describes the fundamentals of competency and competency model, expounds the origin, definition, structure and research approaches of competency theory, retrospect to research result of competency theory both within China and abroad, and discusses the application of competency model in human resources management.Related research and application of competency model of project manager mainly concentrate in taking the IT profession as the background research, thus summarized competency model of project manager, truly did not really take into account the differences in their respective industries. The authors think the real estate industry through the research project manager to find the nature of the industries are different, arising from differences in the competency model .The paper aims at assisting managements of real estate businesses to well understand the competency of project manager, which will be served as the reference for company recruitment and training, etc.This study discusses the competency model of project manager in real estate industry, with the project manager in Peking as survey object. Survey method takes the form of combing interview and questionnaires and the quantitative technique is used to analyze the materials collected. The research result basically sets up the competency model of project manager in real estate field, including: Problem ability, communication skills, personality and character charm, and ability to understand and control strategies, professional influence, and achievement motivation.
