Mineral cities are national bases of fuel and raw material. And they are major citytype of our country. Mining cities set up for mine or springed up for mine. Importance ofmining industry and non-reproducibility of mineral resource have caused four stages ofmining cities' Development. They are stage of preparation for mine exploitation, stage ofshaping, stage of maturing and stage of decaying. There are 12% mining cities which liein decline . Doom of ruin not only envelops these cities, but also baffles all mining cities.Comprehensive competitiveness of mineral cities is capacity and potential offinancial conditions, science and technology, extroversion, government administration,city culture, infrastructure, environment etc. Elevate comprehensive competitiveness ofcities and pay attention to harmonious development of mining city when they are inspringtime. It is key to persistent and steady development.The paper select 6 mining cities which are in different stages and modes. Based onexpertise for comprehensive competitiveness of cities and characteristics of miningcities,the conception of mineral cities' comprehensive competitiveness has been raisedand the system of analysis and estimation for mineral cities' comprehensivecompetitiveness has been established. Appling method of comparative analysis,demonstration analysis, factor analysis and analytic hierarchy process, comprehensivecompetitiveness of sample cities have produced. Constructive suggests for elevatingcomprehensive competitiveness of mining cities have been proposed.
