The "south-south cooperation" has been in practice for nearly half a century. However,so far it has not produced obvious impact upon the global economy as anticipated. This articleintends to study the status quo of the development of the "south-south cooperation", analyzeits influence on world economy, and probe into the reasons of its inefficiency. Based on this, this article proposes that, to achieve tangible outcome, firstly, the "south–south cooperation"should change its mode of cooperation by substituting the traditional hard restraintincorporation—closed in character and requiring trade integration—with soft restraintincorporation, soft and hard restraint combined incorporation, integrated manufacture, etc.;secondly, it should intensify its coordination mechanism in order to strengthen thecoordination and leadership of the "south-south cooperation";thirdly, it should establish acompensation system to balance the interest of the member states.
