The tide of Regional Economic Cooperation has greatly influenced on the development of international trade and the growth of world economy since 1980s, when more and more countries took part in Regional Economic Cooperation, and the degree of Regional Economic Cooperation became deeper and deeper. In the mean time, Regional Economic Cooperation has been open-style, which breaks through regional limitation and realizes the trans-area and trans-region Economic cooperation. Countries isolated from main Regional Economic Cooperation Organizations can't benefit from the cooperation, but also will be excluded to some extent. To join in the Regional Economic cooperation enthusiastically is not only a crucial theoretical problem confronts with each country at present, especially the developing countries, but also an inevitable significant practical problem. There is no economic effect expected in some Regional Economic cooperation between developing countries, many cooperation organizations disjoint or exist in name only. Since 1990s, Economic cooperation between developing countries and developed countries, which is the so called North-South Regional Economic Cooperation has emerged, and have shown its superiority in geological range, macrocosm strength and economic effect rapidly. This paper takes the Regional Economic Cooperation pattern which developing countries take part in as researching object, analyzing the reason why there's little effect in South-South Regional Economic Cooperation, and emphasizing the new cooperation pattern of developing countries--- North-South Regional Economic Cooperation, which will bring chance and challenge to developing countries. Taking part in the North-South Regional Economic Cooperation will not only bring static effect but also dynamic effect, as well as non-traditional economic benefit to developing countries. To the developing countries, it's vital to participate in the cooperation, but they can't follow the tide blindly. They should realize the current situation of their own economy, abide by some certain principles, and respond to the negative influence. Mexico's entry into NAFTA (North America Free Trade Area) has got enormous success which has established an admirable example for developing countries to take part into the North-South Regional Economic Cooperation, even though some disadvantageous impact to Mexico. The East Asia is an area where Regional Economic cooperation is time-lagged all around the world so it's urgent to have further research into the following issues: how to master initiative advantage in Regional Economic Cooperation, and choose the most beneficial developing route in the background of the influence of ASEAN Free Trade Area has been more and more significant. This thesis analyzes the unique advantages of ASEAN Free Trade Area comparing with South-South Regional Economic Cooperation, and supposes ASEAN Free Trade Area has great prospect. China should conform to the tendency of world economy development and participate in the North-South Regional Economic Cooperation enthusiastically. The innovation point of this paper is it improves the models of South-South Regional Economic Cooperation and North-South Regional Economic Cooperation and points out South-South Regional Economic Cooperation will not improve the welfare of member countries due to the similar qualitative products, but most population in developing countries will benefit from North-South Regional Economic Cooperation. This dissertation creatively summarizes the features of North-South Regional Economic Cooperation Pattern--Economic Complementary Advantages,Asymmetry of Correlative Dependence,Asymmetry of Interest,Functional Cooperation Forced by Institutional Cooperation. Finally, the paper gives positive recommendation.
