How to obtain sustainable competitive advantage for an enterprise is always a subject being explored and Practiced by the academy and entrepreneur. The concept of core competence proposed by Gary Hamel and C. K. Prahalad sure give us a new reasonable explanation to it. This theory has urgent and practical significance for Chinese enterprises to prove competenceand face international challenge after China entry to WTO, however,the theory is not systematic itself, especially lack of guidance to practice. Therefore, this paper aims to make a little contribution to the application theory of core competence and could be used as reference for the domestic enterprises.This paper goes from then enterprise strategies based on the core competence, then it discuss the process of constructing the core competence: identifying, cultivating, applying, keeping the core competence. The following part, this paper studies the relationgs between the core competence and Porter competitive strategies, technology innovations, entrepreneur culture, Mutual Operation. Finally,this paper analyses the core competence situation of Chinese enterprise and gives some advise about how to constructing the strategies based on the core competence for Chinese enterprise.
