Nowadays, most of Chinese enterprises undertake internationalization by setting up branch companies or joint venture, M&A(merge and acquisition), R&D centers or strategic alliance. Internationalization activity broadens the markets, increases employment and export volume, enhances the brand image of Chinese products and inceases the capital sources. However, the overseas operation is not easy as it seems. Many enterprises indiscreetly make decisions to invest abroad before they make it clear both which way they will go and the basic information of the objective country. Some Chinese enterprises can't grow well.The thesis discusses how Chinese enterprises can be competent to undertake overseas investment and which way will be efficient and successful under this circumstance. The article tries to answer the two questions by explain the upbuilding of core competence and the choice of internaitionalization model. The core competence theory is cited in the article. Considering the situation of China and the status quo of the development of domestic transnational companies, the writer suggests that it's foremost to upbuild the core competence of enterprises and choose the right internationalization model.The thesis consists of four parts:Chapter 1 introduces the theory background and analysis structure, mainly introducing the core competence theories, and the analysis of motive of enterprises to investment abroad.Chapter 2 analyzes the status quo of internationalization of Chinese enterprises, which have achieved great achievement but still have many problems.Chapter 3 introduces the core competence, explaining how to build and boost the core competence, which is the fundamental way for the enterprise to develop. This part mainly includes the oriention of core competence ( including the choice and protection of core competence) and the building and boosting of core competence( including the motive system, the way and the programming).Chapter 4 suggests the different internationalization models for different Chinese enterprises. Chinese enterprises are different from the type, scale and strength, so they should choose the suitable internationalization model according to their own situation. This part suggests four internationalization models, which are brand strategy, merger and acquisition, OEM model and strategic alliance.
