Because of fierce competition of Chinese car market, the traditional mode for car-manufacturing enterprise to develop a new car model has become inadaptable for the outside competitive environment. As a new management mode, the project management has been adopted gradually to develop a new car model by the Chinese car-manufacturing enterprise.This paper analyzes the competitive environment and character of Chinese car market, then summarizes the traditional mode for Chinese car-manufacturing enterprise to develop a new car model, and reviews the knowledge and application of the modern project management. As a more advanced management mode, project management can take full use of the limited resources in enterprises more effectively and more efficiently, and can transform in time the resources into the products and services that customers need according to high quality standard. Adopting the management project mode in course of developing a new car model will be beneficial for enterprises to take full use of the limited resources, assure the new car model's quality, save the R&D time and reduce costs and expenses in order to satisfy the customers' demands. Adopting the management project mode in course of developing a new car model is a very effective solution that the car-manufacturing enterprise should adopt to adapt the outside competitive environment.Based on the case that FTN Automobile Company Ltd. develops the new car model "T3", this paper narrates the concrete working method and operating mode of the whole T3 project management process including project launching, project planning, project implementing, project controlling and project terminating, at the same time analyzes the existing problems in every phase of T3 project management process, and poses certain ideas and ways to solve the problems, at last summarizes the successful experiences and shortages in course of T3 project management as this paper's conclusions. I hope that this paper will be useful and helpful to the peoples who are engaged in the project management in the car-manufacturing industry. This paper consists of five chapters,The first chapter is introduction part. Because of fierce competition of Chinese car market, car-manufacturing enterprises must develop quickly and ceaselessly a new car model to satisfy customers' demands through improving products' quality, the quality of employees' works and the enterprise operations' efficiency. Adopting the management project mode in course of developing a new car model is a very effective solution for enterprises to adapt the outside competition. At last this part introduces FTN Automobile Company Ltd. and T3 project.The second chapter is the analyzing of environment and background." The enormous chances and fierce challenges and competitions exist at the same time in Chine's car market. The traditional mode for car-manufacturing enterprises to develop a new car model is based on the function organization struction to accomplish the tasks. This function organization structure form emphasizes only the division of differentprofessional fields, but neglects the cooperation between different professional fields.Because of its intrinsic characters, the traditional mode is not able to adapt outsidefierce competitions. Enterprises cries for a more advanced and more scientificmanagement mode to develop a new car model.The third chapter reviews the knowledge and application of the modern project management. This part narrates the concept and character of project, project management, and introduces the nine knowledge fields of project management including project area management, project time management, project cost management, project quality management, project human resource management, project communication management, project sourcing management, project risk management and project integration management. At last this parts introduces the origin and development of project management, and the application and characters of project management in China.The fourth chapter narrates the planning process of T3 project. Developing T3 car model is to adapt outside competitive environment of FTN Automobile Company Ltd. After analyzing the feasibility of T3 project, negotiating the contract of T3 project, formulating license agreement T3, FTN Automobile Company Ltd. launches formally T3 project. This part narrates the concrete working method and operating mode in the course of the T3 project launching and planning, analyzes the existing problems and poses some ideas and ways to solve the problems.The fifth chapter is about the implementing and controlling of T3 project. The implementing of T3 project focuses the project tasks and project progressing. The controlling of T3 project includes mainly the task and progressing's controlling, quality controlling and cost controlling. The terminating of T3 project is to accumulate project management experiences. This part analyzes at the same time the existing problems in course of implementing and controlling of T3 project, and poses some ideas and ways to solve the problems.At last this paper summarizes the successful experiences and shortages in course of T3 project management as this paper's conclusions. At the same time this paper figures that the last standard to judge the efficiency of T3 project management is the performance of T3 car in current car market.
