| With the expansion of construction enterprises, their forms of organizationchange from the initial small-scale single-project management to large-scale,multi-project management. Thus, the construction enterprises need pay much attentionto the effective coordination on the Engineering Departments in project managementprocess, for allocating the corporate resources effectively and optimal. Projectdevelopment acts as one of the most important role in the construction enterprises’business activities, because it is the precondition to project implementation. It iscritical to take a reasonable project development process, which may affect theefficiency and success of project development, thereby affect the business benefits.Under the multi-project management environment, the need for effective and clearproject development process is particularly eager. However there is little research onthis field now, especially lack of research in project development process ofconstruction enterprise. Enterprise C is a large engineering enterprise, contains sevenengineering divisions for project developing, implementing, and so on. The projectdevelopment process is relatively reasonable in enterprise C, but it also shows somedefects and shortcomings in practice.Hence, this paper takes the project development of a large-scale enterprise C as acase, analyses its process under a multi-project management environment, optimizesthe project development process of enterprise C by applying value chain theory toprocess optimization theory and interviews with experienced project developers. Atthe same time, this paper expands the project development process theory ofconstruction enterprise.During the research process, firstly, the project development environment ofenterprise C is describe) Then an overall recognition of the inadequacies of theproject development process is taken. Thereafter, the project development process isdecomposed into business processes and management processes, and realizes theircurrent operating modes mainly through the document consultation of enterprise)Interviews are taken to recognize the of defects and shortcomings in current businessprocesses and management processes of project development, analyze the needs theproject development. A Value Chain Model in project development of construction enterprise is built according to the characteristics of construction enterprise projectdevelopment. Base on the Value Chain Model, the processes need to be optimized andthe key processes are recognized, and finished up by optimizing the projectdevelopment process based on multi-project management. |
