Food is an important and strategic material that relates to the national policy and people's livelihood. All the countries in the world, without exception, put the food problem at a important position with a view to make a country strong and powerful. China is a big country with 1300 million populations, a country with so many people, so few land and so short agricultural resources per person. To develop the food production and guarantee the supply concerns the general situation of reform, development, stability of China. The Chinese government paid always great attention to food work, made great efforts to apply the political and economic means to the promotion of food production, especially applied in many times the food price lever to adjusting and controlling successfully the food production. Studying Seriously and knowing deeply the law and characteristics of price information's role in China's food production, have an important signification for developing stably the food production and ensuring the continuously increasing need of food because of social and economic development.First, this article reviewed and studied completely and systematically the Chinese food production history and the food price change process, analyzed qualitatively the influence of the food price change on the Chinese food production. On this basis, the price elasticity analysis method, established mathematical model analysis method and income-benefit analysis method are used to analyze the regulation role of the food price information on the food quality. with the food of Hunan products the circumstance for case example, statistics data contrast analysis method is used to show the regulation role of food price information on food category and quality; and positive analysis method is also used to set forth the differential degree of influence of price information on different kind of peasant household in the course of food production and management.Finally the article synthesizes to make a conclusion: since China's reform and opening, the food price information plays a evident role of positive regulation and stimulation in the food production; In the course of adjusting food category and quality structure, the price have a very evidently effective guiding function; price information exerts different influence on different planting structure, on differentplanting scale and on different kind of peasant household. On this basis, six measures and suggestions are put forward, concerning how to make use of food price information's guiding role to promote the food production and strengthen the ability of increasing the production and incomes: 1. creating a good market environment, ensuring effective movement of price mechanism; 2. the further perfeet food price go mechanism; 3. guiding the peasant household production and management toward the concurrent business and appropriate scale development; 4. developing the food futures trade and perfecting food price constitution; 5. establishing monitoring and early-warning system of food market price; 6. strengthening the rural price information service work.This article was based on the detailed, accurate and new data and the typical cases,used the qualitative and quantitative method combined to analyze the problem to try to descript in perspective the price information's role in the food production. Because of the author's knowledge level shortage, only a shallow thinking and research about this problem was made. If this article can offer some theoretical reference for China's food price management and food buying-selling system market reform, that will be a great pleasure of the author.
