Rapid development of iron and steel industry of china in recent years hasbrought unprecedent opportunities as well as challeges to demestic rollproducers. With china 's entry into the WTO, foreign roll makers who takeadvantage of advanced management and techonalogy have cast crushing threatto the demestic roll makers, who are small in production scale, low in qualityand poor development capability, short of core techiniqus and competitiveness,lack of long term strategy and studies of maket positioning.Especially upraising price of raw material and short energy broughtunbearable pressure to the demestic roll providers who sell on low price policymaking the whole roll industry profit decrease and some roll factories evengo bankrupt, how to encounter the disadvantage challenge and persue existenceand development has been an urgent problem for us to solve.This paper using the most authoritive competitition theory of professorMecheal E.Porter from harvard university aims to present a cost leadershiptheory for angang roll factory to carry out through the entire and carefulanalysis of roll industry.Many kinds of modern management technologies and methods have beenadopted to solve roll cost control, enterprises self-positioning, selecting ofproduct mix, production scale and market development and an effectivestrategy evaluating method has also been brought out.This thesis based on competitition theory of professor Mecheal E.Porterwith a starting point of "environment dertiminating strategy theory"made agood attempt to use strict mathematic model and analytical methed ofeconomics into strategic management field to intensify practical effect ofPorter's competition theory;modern management technologies and theoriessuch as lever competition, chain value analysis,life-cycle model, 5competitiveness model, core competitiveness evaluation, bostonmatrix,regression pridiction model,total budget method, taguchi quality lossfunction, supply and demand equibrium curve, balance scoring method togetherwith many mathematic and statistic analysis methods have been adopted toprove the effectiveness of this argument with large mount of data.Strategic research and application of this paper have also been presented atypical theoretical and practical attempt of enterprises of china on how to adoptand fufill a competitive strategy in the circumstances of "made in china ".
