The Exploration On The Export Of Chinese Electromechanical Products

With the recovery of global economy, the export of Chineseelectromechanical products increases steadily and sharply , andelectromechanical industry has become a pillar industry of Chinese industryand foreign trade, especially with the obvious competitive advantage in theelectromechanical products in processing trade. Because ourelectromechanical industry jumped off from a low starting point andtechnology level, the low-tech and labor-intensive electromechanical productshave become the mainstream export products, under the guidance of thetheory of comparative advantage. The small electromechanical products,which are more labor intensive and less capital intensive, such astelecommunication equipments, office machines, automatic data processingequipments, etc., enjoy strong competitive advantage. While the high-endequipments, which need core technology, such as vehicles, metalworkingmachinery, etc., have little advantage in international competition. To increasethe export of our electromechanical products, we must change thecomparative advantage into the competitive advantage, and enhance thecompetitive power respectively. The paper makes following suggestions onimproving the competitive power of our electromechanical products: try toexploit overseas market when maintaining the present market share oflow-tech products;encourage the research and innovation of domesticelectromechanical companies, and absorb outflow of foreign technologyactively;and support the export of high-tech and capital intensive equipmentsand vehicles with favorable policy. To drive the competitive power of thewhole industry with technology innovation will become the main topic of thedevelopment of Chinese electromechanical industry.
