The paper focuses on the new changes of US trade policy toward Sub-Saharan Africa. To beginwith, it reviews the economic development of Sub-Saharan Africa and U.S. policies toward thisarea after 1960s. Then it introduces the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) of U.S. and newtrade policies, such as Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), negotiation of Free TradeAreas between U.S. and Southern African Customs Union (SACU), and the trade and investmentframework agreements between U.S. and African countries. Besides, it shows the currentsituations through graphs.,and analyses the effects of the new policies on U.S. and Sub-SaharanAfrica countries. To conclude, it states both strengths and the weaknesses of the new policies, andprovides suggestions to China.
