The selected topic of the paper originates from the project "Research on the sustainable development problem of listed companies". The paper based on this project, and is one of results of the project.Listed companies are the group with most development advantages in China's economic performance. And achieving sustainable development is the foundation of capital markets, promoting the healthy and stable development of capital markets in China. But most of the listed companies in China cannot achieve sustainable development, constraining the healthy and stable development of capital markets.This paper selects of 123 insufficient capacity for sustainable development and 11 with stronger capacity for sustainable development as two categories of listed companies, analyzes and summarizes the factors on the impact of sustainable development to listed companies, studies the relationship between these factors and sustainable development by using more analytical methods in positive way, obtains some the basic conclusions that influences the sustainable development of China's listed companies. It is found that major shareholders of listed companies exhausted the companies, and innormal guarantee of financial management, unrelated diversification for blind investment, fraud are the main causes that lead to unsustainable operation of major listed companies. The key factors that influence sustainable development of listed companies are focusing on main business, capital operation, brands, innovation and management. In the last, the paper points out some specific countermeasures and suggestions for the sustainable development of listed companies.
