The thesis is focused on the study of the conflict and coordination between the competition policy and industry policy in the area of enterprise merger.Enterprise merger has already been common in the modern economic life, and it will become more widespread with the development of the economics. As enterprise merger, especially the horizontal merger between large companies may produce negative effects such as the restriction of competition, many countries have formulated enterprise merger control regulations to supervise and regulate it. However, on the other hand, enterprise merger plays an active role in enhancing the economic benefits and competitiveness, which makes the government encourage merger so as to make an adjustment for the industry structure. Therefore, the conflicts between competition policy and industry policy in the area of enterprise merger are inevitable. How to coordinate these conflicts? How to make the two policies consistently serve for the whole benefits of the economic development on the basis of their harmonious development? The answers are both theoretically and practically significant for a country's economic development and the implementation of the government's policy.The thesis is based on Industrial economic theories and competitive theories, and makes a comprehensive analysis and discussion on the conflict and coordination between competition policy and industry policy in the area of enterprise merger by means of economic analysis and comparison analysis of the development and changes of the attitudes which developed countries or areas hold about the two policies. There are there parts in structure in this thesis.The first chapter analyses the relationships between the competition policy, industry policy and enterprise merger. It starts with a summary of the competition policy's definition, its origin and development. Then, it is followed by the analysis of the anti-competition effect which enterprise merger may result in.
