Utilization Characters And Functional Promotion Of Bank Lines Along Huangpu River In Urban Shanghai

Since opening to the world, based on the advantage location and the deep water shore line, Shanghai became the most important trading port. The excellent shorel line resource of Huangpu River is available for Shanghai to develop the port and industry. And so that, Shanghai developped as the most important modern industrial base in China. Along with the development of the industy and the urban economy, the modern service industry has gradually clustered along the Bund, so that Shanghai jumped to the largest financial center in the Far East. Nowadays, in view of targets of the World City and the sixth world urban cluster in Changjiang delta, the utilization re-development and functional promotion of shore line along Huangpu River have a great significance.Huangpu River is the mother river of Shanghai, by which the world recognizes Shanghai and Shanghai goes to the world. The goldern channel performs the urban functions, such as industry, transport, storage, traffic and so on, which contribute to the development and flourish of Shanghai. However, the docks and warehouses built in the industrial era are so dated and the water environment is so anxious that can not match to the urban visage changed with each passing day. The utilization level of the bank line is too low to match the construct target of the World City. Upon that, the optimized utilization and function re-construction of the shore line, has already drawed the governments' attention and been put into the schedule of "eleven-five" planning. The paper summarizes the existing characters of the shore line utilization, analyses the harmony and contradiction between the river and the city, points out the target and direction of the utilization, and shows the re-development project of the key bank lines.The paper is divided into six sections. In the introduction, the background and the significance, the method and concert are simply defined. Two typical examples are particularized in the second section. And in the third section, the interrelation between Huangpu River and Shanghai city is analyzed in detail. Fourth to the sixth sections are the essence of the article. Based on the field trip along Huangpu River, the author attempt to classify the shore line systemically and sum five characters up in the fourth section. And then, compared to economic benefit, the necessity and feasibility of re-development in different functions are macroscopically analyzed in the next section. At last, the authorr designs the optimized project and policy proposal.
