Along with the development of seismic attributes technology in recent years, its application has played an important role in reservoir prediction and all other aspects. Because there is variety of the seismic attributes and most of the attributes and their geological meanings are not clear, causing some attribute abusing and serious impacting on the reservoir prediction. So it becomes an important work to optimize attributes for the target in practice and maximize the prediction accuracy. This paper firstly discussed the present situation of seismic attributes and it’s use in reservoir prediction; Secondly, the analysis and description of several common seismic attributes optimization method was also presented and compared. The paper focused on the methods of attribute optimization, combining the actual seismic data and extracting attributes information. With the help of attribute optimization, the thesis obtained the best attributes subset and compared the features and application conditions of various optimization methods. The effective response of the seismic attributes will be very different with the changing of the study areas. So the seismic attribute optimization must be targeted. This thesis combined the Xinli Xinbei with Xinmiaoxi area and extracted some kinds of common attributes to predict the reservoir. The paper took advantage of the attribute dimension reduction, attribute selection and fitting analysis to attributes optimization. The results show that these methods have their own advantages and disadvantages and the attribute contribution amount is not suitable for this area. Finally, the 40 Hz single-frequency energy attribute and RMS attribute were choose as the best.the best attributes optimization results were the 40 Hz single-frequency energy attribute and RMS attribute. This thesis used these two attributes to predict channel sandstone and reservoir. With the help of the seismic attribute optimization results, this thesis located three new wells.
