The spirit of scientist is not a problem studied by classic philosophy of science，but it should be become a problem studied by contemporary philosophy of science inbroad sense. It is necessary for the study of this problem because of the rising of theresearch field of Science，Technology and Society （STS）.Based on the domestic and foreign achievement about the spirit of scientist，thethree main problem will be discussed: what is the connotation of the scientist spirit，what is the basic characteristics of the scientist spirit; what spirit should a scientisthave through the study of Tim Berners-Lee; and the influence of scientist spirit onsocial life.First of all，scientists are the subject who engaged in the scientific researchactivities，they have basic thinking and concept of value，then their quality，moralsentiment and behavior characteristics shaped by scientific methods and scientificknowledge and edified by scientific thoughts through the scientific research activities.It shows that the spirit of scientists contains “scientific” and “humanistic” two factors，which manifested in two aspects: scientific spirit and humanistic spirit. On one handit’s shaped by the scientific method and scientific knowledge，on the other hand it’sedified by values.
