Wang Zhenyi was born in a family of scholar in the middle period of Qing Dynasty, had a systematic thinking in the field of astronomy and mathematics. And, she was who one of the few women scientists in the Qing Dynasty. She wrote many books during her life, many of which were lost.It is likely that First Air Pavilion Set with 13 volumes was retained. In this book, the chapters about science and technology mainly concentrated on the fifth chapter "Explanation", the sixth chapter "Theory", the seventh chapter "Solution", which provide the basic historical materials for the study of this paper.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part starts with the background of the development of Wang Zhenyi, then the prevailing socioeconomic status, level of science and technology development, and groups of scientists are discussed, which leads to the introduction of Wang Zhenyi personal background, and paved the way for the research her scientific and technological achievements, ideas and influence in the following parts.In the second part, the formation process of Wang Zhenyi’s thoughts of science and technology was investigated. It is studied from three aspects of her home study tradition, self study, academic communication. Her home study contained the effects of science and technology achievements of her father ancestry, and the effects of science and technology in the family atmosphere. Herself study included her reading of science and technology books, and her experiences with her father in the open field of vision. Academic communication included her communication with her family and friends.In the third part and the fourth part, the research of Wang Zhenyi in the field of astronomy and mathematics is analyzed. The three aspects about Wang, achievements in astronomy and mathematics, the main practical activities and the ideas of astronomy are discussed. Before the interpretation of Wang Zhenyi’s astronomy and mathematics thoughts, the knowledge sources of her astronomy and mathematics thoughts are analyzed.In the fifth part, the contribution and influence of her science and technology are studied. Her technical contribution and historical status are evaluated by selecting the three representative women scientists from Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty respectively, and comparing their achievements with Wang’s, which was used to stress the representative and value of her research. At last, the influence of Wang Zhenyi’s science and technology research is reviewed, and then the survival conditions of female scientists in the Qing Dynasty is analyzed.As a rare female scientist in the history of the Qing Dynasty and even the history of China, Wang Zhenyi carried out a detailed combing and verification of the previous research results in astronomy and mathematics. Because of her growth in the patriarchal, male prevalent era, scientific exploration was not easy. It was not more common in women who were domimant in scientific research, although she was in the boudoir. Studying Wang’s thoughts and achievements on science and technology, not only contributes to the study of Chinese ancient science and technology, women education in traditional society and social status, but also to the study of the rich ancient Chinese female groups of scientists.
