With the deep application of RS, The extension of application requirements requires RS software architecture to be made to meet new demands and challenges. In addition, new tools and method were developed as researching more and more deep, it should be used in the system by programming quickly. To make RS interpretation system more flexible and quickly meet the needs of customers, this paper proposed new architecture of RS interpretation system based on Platform/Plug-in technology. Practice has proved that using Platform/Plug-in technology can simplify develop steps and improved system flexibility.The main contributions of this paper are as following.1) Proposed "Platform/Plug-in" technology to build RS image interpretation system. By researching the work mode of RS interpretation, this paper proposed using Platform/Plug-in technology to design of RS interpretation system; Research theory of "Platform/Plug-in" technology and RS application, mainly focus on plug-in mechanism.2) Reconstruct platform and integrate tools Plug-in. On the basis of existing software framework, reconstruct platform by using Platform/Plug-in technology. Transform interpretation tools, check tools, gather tools into plug-in. Integrate the tool plug-in into platform and do running test.3) Introduced design and development of road extract plug-in. Choose road extract tool as an instance to show advantage of plug-in develop. In accordance with the defined specification, this paper introduced the program in detail.
