Review Of Heidegger’s Critique Of Modern Technology

Today, our life can’t do without technology. But we can see that technology not only has brought us convenience, but also destroyed invisibly the world we live in. So, people began to reflect on the positive effect and negative effect of modern technology, Martin Heidegger’s view about modern technology is particularly profound. He think that we should return to the original technology in some sense. First of all, in this paper, I will review Heidegger’s criticism, and examine its practical significance in modern society, make a detailed inquiry about the theoretical basis of the critical theory of Heidegger’s points of view, including the possibility of the basis. This is first concern in my investigation; Secondly, a kind of critical attitude to modern technology is Heidegger’s firm position. But what kind of critical position about technology is really his appeal to? Does it take us into the domain of truth? These questions will become second focus in my study.This paper firstly points out the danger of modern technology brought to us, which is the reason that Heidegger’s criticism of modern technology, it reveals the necessity of reflection on modern technology. Starting from the Heidegger’s inquiry about essence of the original technology, we can find freedom, the nature of relation between truth and original technology. The original technology is a kind of "demasking", the modern technology is also a kind of "demasking". But it has become a kind of Herauspordcun "demasking" in certain sense. The essence of modern technology "seat frame" is a specific requirement, this Herauspordcun compels people gathered together, make people to "Bestellen" something as standing matter in self-demasking. Back to its source, I will investigate it from one view of metaphysics:the metaphysical nature of the modern technology began in Platon’s Idea theory, flourished in the time of Descartes’s obvious division between subjective and objective thinking, ended in Nietzsche’s Strong Will. Heidegger think this is fatal, it did not let the existence itself into the show of essence, in the scope of metaphysics, any pass access to the truth road will be erased. Thus, Heidegger pointed out two ways to save the modern technology in this chaos:starting to think from the existence; using art to rescue technology. The possibility of these two roads will be analysed one by one.Finally, through reexamine Heidegger’s criticism of modern technology, I will proposal that Heidegger in the essence does not deny modern technology. Rather than through the reflection of modern technology, let us return to the original state of human life.
