Objective: To compare the memory effect among visual learning, olfactory learning and multi-modal learning, and to reveal whether multi-modal learning is better than the single-learning. We test the memory attenuation within 24 hours, and draw the memory variation speculate about Gryllus bimaculatus. We can also discuss the possible neural mechanisms of insect visual and olfactory learning and memory.Method: Adult Gryllus bimaculatus is as experimental animals. The basis of Mizunami and Unoki’s experimental model, we explore two different targets. The two odors or graphics connect with sucrose and salt solution. Comparison the time of animals to explore two goals after training. The time is as the index about learning effects. We must ensure the consistency of the non-comparative experimental data, and respectively do visual learning, olfactory learning and multi-modal learning experiments. The data is recorded for five minutes, thirty minutes, six hours, twelve hours and twenty-four hours after training. After data processing, the result compares Preference Index.Result: The PI value of the three experiments after training compares with that before the training in the cricket Gryllus bimaculatus, P < 0.05. The PI value of the multi-modal memory after training compares with that of single-model visual learning and memory, P< 0.01. The PI value of the multi-modal memory after training compares with that of single-model olfactory learning and memory, P >0.05.Conclusions:(1)Vision, olfaction and vision-olfaction combined in the cricket can form the memory.(2)The effect in the cricket’s olfactary learning and memory is superior to the visual one.(3)Multi-modal learning and memory effect is superior to the single-model visual learning and memory effect. But the Multi-modal learning and memory effect is the same as the single-model olfactory one.(4)The memory attenuation curve is S-shaped.
