Reef has caused great attention in geology research. Since the special product has great practical value, geologists at home and abroad have done much research on reef, involving the concept, origin, structure, types, facies classification, etc., and fruitful results have achieved. Geophysical workers have done research on seismic recognition of reef, and summarized the seismic response characteristics of reef. At the same time, prediction technology of reef also gradually developed. Seismic reflection structure analysis, seismic attribute and 3D visualization interpretation constitute the main technical series in the qualitative prediction and evaluation of reef. Based on geological, seismic and well data, and the research results at present, in this paper, reef reservoir in area A of the right bank of Amu Darya is subtly described. The reef possesses typical characteristics of geophysical response. In seismic time section, the reef is generally with the raised mounded shape, there is strong reflection in its interfaces of top and bottom, sometimes the draping structure appears in the overlying strata of reef, the internal reflection is littery or approximatively bedded. The seismic reflection structure of the reef is unique in the external, internal, above and the adjacent rock. It often displays abnormality at the curves of GR, dipmeter, imaging logging, and so on. To spot these typical characteristics is the major mean to identify reef. The gas reserves is ranked 4th in the world, and the Amu Darya Basin is the main gas-producing area. Area A is located in the right bank of the Amu Darya Basin. The source data in this area is analyzed in detail, and the difficulties of the seismic data processing are summarized, and the research train of thought is made in this paper. Based on parameter test, a set of processing flow is determined. After targeted processing, the processing result with high signal noise ratio of the target layer is obtained. The result truly reflected the geological structure and characteristics of the underground structure.Based on subtly layer labeling and comparing for target stratum, the seismic characteristics of the main reflection have been summarized. Through comprehensive interpretation of multiattribute, the characteristics of fracture system have been investigated in this area. Two fracture systems are developed, which is N-E direction and approximate E-W direction respectively. Ten structural traps have been found in Callovian-Oxfordian, which are 284.4km2 in total. Through the analysis of post-stack fracture detection, it is found that the fracture is very developed in this area for the influence of regional stress. The fracture development zone is mainly concentrated in the east and south area. In order to describe distributed regularity of fracture accurately, it is suggest that the prestack fracture detection should be done for later development.According to the above results, the favorable hydrocarbon bearing area of organic reef in Area A of Amu Darya Basin has been explored. The traps, which are found and delineated, have been evaluated. The favorable area has been selected. The suggestions are proposed for further exploration and deployment.
