As a prophase foundation work, geological exploration plays an important role in mineral exploitationand geological research. Faced with a large number of historical accumulated data, geological researchers need a more intuitive and scientific way to show and provide interactive tools in order to support subsequent analysis, exploration and utilization. Therefore, in-depth study of digitization and informatization of geological exploration has practical significance. This paper starts with the demand of digital geological survey and researches on the core technology of 3D data model,3D visualization and 3D interaction.First, based on the analysis of existing 3D data model, combined with the demand of digital geological survey, this thesis proposes a 3D data model for digital geological survey, which gives the object description, topological relation and data structure and proves that the model has a certain degree of improvement in general topological relations and multidimensional aspects. Second, this paper designs a 3D visualization scheme for digital geological survey and investigates its transform methods. Moreover, this paper designs other three key things -the interaction scheme based on pickup, graphical element based on coordinate transformation and the interactive methods of graphics editing.Based on the theoretical research of the above key technology, this paper designs and implements the 3D engine prototype system for digital geological survey and uses this particular prototype system to verify the theory.Finally, conclusions and future work are summarized. The paper discusses the weakness in key technology of 3D engine for digital geological survey and puts forward emphasis and difficulties in future research.
