There are quite plenty of potential natural gas resources in western Sichuan. Butthis area is still relatively unexplored due to the characteristic of carbonate reservoir.The carbonate reservoir in western Sichuan is buried deeply and controlled by manyfactors. And there are many types of reservoir obvious homogeneous in this area.Those factors have brought immense difficulty in predicting and appraising thereservoir. So far, there has been no effective seismic prediction technique aimed at themarine carbonate reservoir in west region of Sichuan. It has severely hindered itsfurther development.With regard to the heavy cost of the drilling an effort should be made to reducethe drilling operation risk to a great deal. To achieve this goal, seismic data processingand interpretation should be carried out precisely with maximum information acquiredfrom reservior. The sedimentation and seismic response of carbonate reservoir inwestern Sichuan have certain specificity although the reservoir is complicated andhomogeneous. For the characteristics of the carbonate reservoir in western Sichuan,The thesis starts by the characteristics of sedimentation and seismic facies andcompletes the tectonic interpretation and sedimentary facies study by using acombination of seismic sedimentology, petroleum geology, sequence stratigraphy andsedimentology studies related theories and methods for the area stratigraphic andstructural interpretation of sedimentary facies, Using the method above, therelationship between seismic facies and sedimentary facies can be established andcarved out of the favorable sedimentary facies.According to the Leikoupo Overall deposition of the sedimentary backgroundand the Sedimentary facies interpretation of Ck1Drilling, Xs1Drilling and Xins1Drilling,this.Study shows that the Depositional environment of main study area isrestricted platform, including Lagoon, Salty lagoon, intra-platform beach and tidal flat.It is pointed that restricted platform with shallow water body and strong waterdynamic are the favorable sedimentary facies belt for the development of shoals by analysis of reservoir types and controlled factors. The shoals only deposited on theancient geographic highland might be transformed by leaching of meteoric water anddolomitisation due to early exposure. So the ancient geographic highland located atthe favorable sedimentary facies belt is suitable to the development of good reservoirsand is the favorable areas to find the large-and/or moderate-sized reservoirs.The results showed that the Depositional environment of main study area isrestricted platform, including Lagoon, Salty lagoon, intra-platform beach and tidal flat.On the basis of accurately set up the sedimentary facies.This study explained fourfavorable facies belt and four likely favorable facies belt in the top of Leisiduan andtwo favorable facies belt and two likely favorable facies belt in the bottom ofLeisiduan.Searching of shoal reservoirs by the typical seismic feature of reefs and shoalscan improve the accuracy and reliability of reservoir prediction. Meanwhile, it can becompared and validated by Seismic attribute analysis and technique of seismic faciesanalysis. Finally, carved out of the favorable sedimentary facies and achieves the goalthat carried on preliminary appraisal of the reservoir distributed characteristic inresearched area.
