The Kaiyang County is one of fragile ecology environment areas in China.Official statistics show477houses and146acres farmland were destroyed,33peoplewere killed,3people missed,77km roads and bridges was damaged due to geologicaldisasters on december31,2007in Kaiyang, the direct economic loss with2.05billionyuan. It follows that geological disasters threaten lives and property safety of localresidents seriously.Based on “geological disasters monitoring and early warning and decisionsupport system in the guizhou province”, the paper elaborates the process ofgeological disaster database construction in the Kaiyang County,to build the processof large-scale geological hazards database construction, to provide reliable data for thegeological disasters early warning analysis, at the same time, provide some guidancefor the similar database construction, which has a certain reference value.Conclusions of the research as follows:(1) Relational data logic model adopted to design geological hazard database ofKaiyang County, reduce data redundancy and optimize data structure, KaiYanggeological disaster database was created based on ArcGIS; at the same time, createdata path depending on ArcSDE, which make the spatial data and attribute datawarehoused, and manage it depending on large database managementsoftware-Oracle, which improve the efficiency of data management and data security.(2) Man-machine interactive adopted to check and control data quality, whichimprove the efficiency and accuracy of data checked; import data warehousingsoftware developed improve work efficiency with bulk data storage.(3) The map service was optimized depending on map cache technology, whichimproved greatly efficiency when users access map services through the network. theparallel processing improve the map cache service efficiency due to much map serviceinvolveing geological hazards database in Kaiyang County,.(4) Establish geological disasters database maintenance system in KaiyangCounty to achieve data browsing, management and statistic analysis, ensure the safetyand consistency of data with the independence of the data and database management departments.
