A research of Gelidopsis scoparia which is collected in Chiling Town, Lingshui country,Hainan province on the basis of morphology observation and UPA 、 rbcL and COI gene sequence analysis. The organism has the following morphological features:(1) Dark purple, linear, thalli about 3-4cm in height;(2) The main branches is composed of the cylindrical branch, brush shaped, irregular forked branches, alternate, or binary branch;(3) Thaill transverse and longitudinal section view, algal composed of cortex and pith of body, slightly peripheral cells, ovoid, central pith cells by irregular horned ovoid or long oval cells. Cortex consisting of 2-4 layer cells, is about 10-20μm in diameter, the marrow cell diameter of4-8μm;(4) Tetraspores growth at the top of the branches, cross divisions, buried in the epithelial cells. The morphological differences were supported by molecular phylogenetics using UPA, and rbcL gene sequence analysis.(5) UPA genetic analysis of four Gelidopsis samples, there is no intergeneric divergence among of the four specimens; there is 1bp(0.3%)intergeneric divergence between the four specimens and Gelidopsis scoparia collected from Hawaii, get together in one clade, and appeared in the midst of a large of Rhodymeniales monophyletic clade in the ML phylogenetic tree;(6) rbcL gene sequence analysis results showed that there is no intergeneric divergence among of the four specimens; and also appeared in the midst of a large Champiaceae monophyletic clade in the ML phylogenetic tree;(7) COI gene sequence analysis showed that there is 3bp and 0.5% intergeneric divergence between the four specimens and Gelidopsis scoparia collected from Hawaii;(8) Through the morphological observation and gene analysis that we concluded that the red algae of our research is the same species of Gelidopsis scoparia which belonged to the of Rhodymeniales of the family of Champiaceae and is identified as a new record species in China. On the Basis of morphology observation and rbcL sequence analysis, the red algae which is collected from zhejiang province has carried on the detailed study. The results are as follows:(1)Thallus are purple, erect, slimy, about 15-25 cm high;(2) Without significant main branch, branch flat, branch fork shaped at the top;(3) Carpogonial branch ampullae,auxiliary-cell ampullae are Grateloupia type;(4) Tetrasporangia were divided cruciately;(5)There is no intergeneric divergence among of the three specimens collected from Zhejiangprovince of China, three is 26bp(2.3%) intergeneric divergence between the three specimens and related species of Grateloupia subpectinata; The pairwise distances between Grateloupia nanjiensis and Carpopeltis phyllophora outgroup were 134bp(12.7%);(6) In ML phylogenetic trees form a single small clade and this clade belongs to Grateloupia subpectinata-clade;(7) According to the results of morphological observation and rbcL sequence analysis, we considered Grateloupia nanjiensis H. W. Wang sp. nov. to be a new species of genus Grateloupia.
